Stags’ Leap Petite Syrah
Out of a 1920s era field blend block has risen a legacy of richly aromatic Petite Syrahs, voluptuous in the mouth, central to Stags Leaps commitment to Rhône varietals. In a way, the heritage vines have been the winerys coach in learning how Petite Syrah likes to be made into wine. Petite Syrah craves the company of other Rhône varietals, says winemaker Kevin Morrisey.
Style Notes :
- Variety: Petite Syrah
- Origin: US
- Locality: Napa Valley
Tasting Notes :
With its rich core of blueberries, blackberry, lavender and pepper spice, the Napa Valley Petite Syrah displays the plush elegance and finesse for which our Petite Syrahs are known. The generous blackberry and black raspberry flavors remain powerful, yet are supported by lovely cinnamon, clove and cedar baking spice notes from the oak aging. There is beautiful freshness and mouthwatering acidity which runs throughout the wine, making it unbelievably soft with restrained tannins and a generous lengthy finish. This is an inviting wine that encourages you to enjoy it now but has the complexity to age for many years to come.
