The Côtes de Blaye Bordeaux appellation is perched on a rocky ridge in the Gironde River’s estuary. Blaye lies in the middle of the largest area of the Right Bank. The vineyards are located on the hillside, benefiting from the mild, warm winds that grace the region year round. And while the soil of this region varies greatly depending on the vineyard, all of them have the right formula for growing amazing Merlot.
Style Notes :
- Variety: Cabernet Sauvognon, Malbec, Merlot
- Origin: California
- Locality: Blaye
Tasting Notes :
starts out with a smoke and earth driven nose that gives in to ripening black, sweet cherries. Because this wine is aged in 80% French oak and 20% American oak, there are lovely spice notes and well integrated tannins that provide a supple and round mouthfeel. A finish of tart cranberry adds balanced acidity that makes for a wine that can hold its own in the cellar for years to come.
